Business & Executive Mentoring - Putting Your Experience To Work |
 |
|
How The System Works
The Experience Network acts as a facilitator introducing skilled
professionals to companies looking for business professionals to
work alongside their existing staff as mentors/consultants.
If you have a skill within a particular market
sector, job or specialist field and you want to make use of it,
then we want to hear from you. If you have been working at your
job or within your field for ten years or more then you have the
kind of experience we are looking for.
Many companies today require assistance
from external business mentors or consultants, whether because they simply do not
have the internal expertise or because they only require the
additional resources for a short period.

Business Mentoring or Business
Consulting? |
Professional Training Courses |
The
roles of consultant & mentor are very similar, the
dividing line between the two often becomes merged, so;
Would you class yourself as a Business Consultant or a Business
Coach/Mentor?
To put it another way; Are you intending to:
 |
Carry out specific tasks
on a specific project and then end your relationship
with the client |
 |
Establish a long term
client relationship to guide the client through an
ongoing business improvement programme |
|
 |
|
Here at
The Experience Network we would define answer 'A' as the role of a
'business consultant', whereas answer 'B' requires the
services and expertise of a business mentor. |
The Experience Network
offers a wide range of training of courses for you to
choose from. Whether your are looking to gain
recognition of your existing skills, increase the level
of qualification you have or are entering into mentoring for
the first time there is a course for you.

Business Consulting |
|
The role of a business consultant will often include many of the
tasks and responsibilities of a business mentor but be
restricted to short to medium term contract engagements, for
specific projects within a specific area of expertise. |
|
|
|
A business consultant has many special roles counting working as
a speaker, trainer, and writer as well as providing danger
examination and responding to questions and concerns posed by
the clients. A business consultant often works very closely with
the organization team, board of directors or business owner to
investigate current information as necessary and to prepare and
present findings in a significant way. The business consultant
may be brought in to deal with one exact topic or issue or may
be hired to help improve or update all the policies and
procedures within the organization. |
|
|
|
Our members often work in either or both capacities.
Straightforward consulting roles can often become mentoring
roles as the work progresses and we are keen to support all our
members in their chosen area. |
|
|
|
Workforce Strategy Consultants |
|
As part of our business mission to promote diversity within the
workplace we have specialist consultants who advise companies on
implementing diverse workforce strategy projects. Each project
covers a workforce audit, delivering a report, consultations
with the client on policies and procedures and assisting the
client with workforce strategy decisions. |

Business Mentoring Business mentoring is
facilitative business process between the mentor and business
managers and owners. The process is focused on the success of
the business and is likely to include a mixture of short and
long term objectives designed to improve business performance
in some measurable or otherwise provable
way.
Mentors
are usually current and former CEO's, Company Directors,
Senior Executives and Senior Managers who have lead
or held key positions within organisations. They are all
skilled professionals with a record of achievement to prove it.
What kind of services are
mentors expected to provide? The services provided through our
mentors are geared around enabling
both individual and corporate clients to achieve their full
potential.
They cover areas such as:-
 |
Facilitating the exploration of needs, motivations,
desires, skills and thought processes to assist the
individual in making real, lasting change.
|
 |
Using questioning techniques to facilitate client's own
thought processes in order to identify solutions and actions
rather than takes a wholly directive approach.
|
 |
Supporting the client in setting appropriate goals and
methods of assessing progress in relation to these
goals. |
 |
Observational, listen and ask questions to understand
the client's situation in depth.
|
 |
Creative application of tools and techniques which may
include one-to-one training, facilitating, counselling &
networking. |
 |
Encouraging a commitment to action and the
development of lasting personal growth &
change. |
 |
Maintaining unconditional positive regard for the
client, which means that the coach is at all times
supportive and non-judgemental of the client, their views,
lifestyle and aspirations. |
 |
Ensure that clients develop personal competencies and
do not develop unhealthy dependencies on the coaching or
mentoring relationship. |
 |
Evaluating the outcomes of the process, using objective
measures wherever possible to ensure the relationship is
successful and the client is achieving their personal
goals. |
 |
Encouraging clients to continually improve
competencies and to develop new developmental alliances
where necessary to achieve their goals.
|
 |
Working within their area of personal competence.
|
 |
Management of the relationship to ensure the client
receives the appropriate level of service and that
programmes are neither too short, nor too
long. |
As a business mentor your focus would be
to support, advise, and inspire
business owners and senior executives in their
function, performance, and future development. The
key is of course to use your own hard earned business experience
to be able to provide professional and experienced advice. What does The
Experience Network Do?
The Experience Network maintains a database of all its
registered mentors/consultants. When a
company contacts us with a particular requirement we search our
database for a suitable mentor/consultant and contact them with the
details of the assignment. Assuming that the consultant is
interested and able, we then confirm this with the client and
make the necessary arrangements for an initial introduction. In some cases clients
may like
to conduct an additional interview themselves whereas in others they are
willing to accept our recommendations and the contract will be done
without any further time and effort being expended by either
party.

a problem, nothing more, nothing less and it is our aim to
provide that solution regardless of age, sex, creed, colour,

physical demands or legislative requirements).
