skills, ability and suitability |

The Experience Network is working on a commission, they do not
have targets to beat. The only thing that concerns our advisors
is to place high quality reliable skilled professionals into
good quality positions. |
What are the benefits?
The arguments for recruiting more
experienced senior workers are mounting:
 |
By
recruiting from a bigger pool of talent, you will achieve a more
dynamic and mixed-age workforce. |
 |
You will tap
into a richer seam of skills, experience and knowledge. |
 |
Access to
experience and proven skills. |
 |
A workforce
that matches more closely the profile of your customers. |
 |
Surveys show
that older workers have a better attendance record than younger
workers. |
 |
Older
workers are more flexible in accepting change in occupation and
earnings. |
 |
Older
workers are often more flexible and able to work part time. |
 |
Recent
research shows that more experienced senior workers are more
appreciative of matters such as; work ethic, judgement, commitment
to quality, corporate responsibilities, attendance and punctuality. |

Interesting Statistics |
Quite aside from their experience, older workers are more committed and
reliable, have better customer-facing skills, understand business better,
and take less short-term sickness absence.
It is a fact that in less than ten years'
time, almost 40% of the UK labour force will be aged forty five or over. A
fact which means that age
discrimination is a luxury that companies can no longer afford.
Demographic images suggest that by the year 2010, 45 - 55 year olds will make up
the largest portion of the working population.

|
How does it work?
The Experience Network acts as a facilitator by introducing
skilled professionals who are either; Retired, Semi-Retired or
unable to find employment because of ageism, to your company for
a specific permanent role or short term assignment. Typical
short term assignments are for between three
and six months. Each candidate successfully introduced will work as an
independent contractor for the duration of the assignment. At
the end of the period the assignment may be considered finished
in which case there is no further action. Alternatively if the
candidate was engaged with a view to making an offer of a
permanent position then, you
simply make your offer directly to the candidate.
|
What does it cost?
In utilising the services of The Experience Network your company
will be in a win win situation. Why? Well apart from all the
advantages and benefits associated with engaging a more senior
person the way in which The Experience Network operates is a far
more cost effective route to attaining your recruitment
solutions.
 |
Unlike a recruitment company we do not charge a
percentage fee based on the value of the appointment. |
 |
We
charge a nominal fixed fee for each completed
introduction regardless of any other considerations. |
 |
Should you decide that at the end of a short term
assignment to make one of our candidates a
permanent job offer we
will not make any additional charge whatsoever. |
This of course means that we are much
less expensive than any standard recruiter and therefore
represent a considerably more financially attractive solution to
your staffing needs. |

Promoting Age Diversity
within the workplace
Many companies often use external consultants for a whole range
of reasons. However, many senior
people, often with more experience than is actually required,
are turned down almost immediately without reason, simply because of their age. Whilst
legislation is in place to combat this sadly it does not appear
to be working
very effectively, all it seems to have done is push the
reasoning deeper and increase the inventiveness of those doing
the declining. The net result is
that a great deal of valuable experience is going to waste. As
an organisation The Experience Network seeks to promote age
diversity within the workplace.
Many experienced senior workers, who are seeking
to return to the work place are
regularly discriminated against purely because of their age, without any
consideration of their abilities, skills and experience, and this is why
The Experience Network is working to promote age
diversity to try and eliminate this prejudice from the workplace. To ignore the vast pool of resources that
the senior worker represents is not only wrong, but it is a waste of
the nation’s skills and resources. It seems almost criminal, not to
mention stupid when such a wealth of experience is simply cast aside
because it wasn't gained overnight, but through the apprenticeship
of life or just because the person has no university degree. A more experienced senior worker has so much to offer a potential
employer, not just skills and experience, but reliability, punctuality and
loyalty. They also tend to have more confidence, make better listeners and
are more easily able to relate to customers on a level which suits the
customer. Furthermore their experience is often the one single factor that
enables them to be both pro-active and re-active in their work.
|
 |
| |
|
|
As for the myth that older workers are less
computer literate and cannot deal with the new technology, it is just a
lame excuse.
Who do these people think wrote the applications on which those they use
to day were based? Computing in the workplace for the masses arrived in
the early eighties and a great many of today's 'older workers' were
involved in it. They often have skills and an appreciation of things that
younger less experienced workers have no concept of let alone ability to
deal with.
